the daily prayer

We add the meaning to our lives. It would be difficult to challenge that our attitude defines our response to any given stimulus.

Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and freedom ~ Viktor E. Franki

The practice of a yoga allows us to observe and become aware of that space. Through the practice we discover the space between our thoughts and within our bodies. However as we hit our classes and jump from mats and back into our world of fast paced technology, traffic, demands and endless stimulation, it is possible that it isn't enough.

Finding mindful moments during the day can come in the form of relishing in daily rituals. Making that cup of tea or walking out to get the paper. Lying in bed for those few moments before the day hits or perhaps its brushing your teeth. Living yoga is finding those sweet moments in any time where we are so mindful and so present. The walk to lunch, a shower or preparing food. Not only noticing the beauty but to hold discernment in being able to see things as they are.

Living yoga isn't a religion, its cultivating an awareness that goes so deep that as the world is moving and changing around us we stay close to ourselves no matter what.

How is this interview through our gal Madonna. If someone inhibits the ability to be riding that ever moving wave of change, expressing it through her art and her obvious detachment to staying the same, well you know who it is.  Check it this excerpt.

'The ritual of prayer isn't a religious thing as much as it is having a ritualistic moment to acknowledge things and not take things for granted. For instance, the fact that you have a job to do, that you have friends, the fact that you have your health. You're going to do something that's going to bring you joy. We take these things for granted.' ~ Madonna

So a thought... living mindfully, not even just yoga is relishing in those daily prayers or rituals that bring us back. Wrapping your foot around the back of your head feel a little threatening? Rejoice in that morning cup of tea and ponder the world right there. I know I do x
